18-Year-Old Identified in Fatal I-20 Crash as Investigation Continues.

We’re learning more about the tragic crash that claimed the life of Daniel Felipe Sanchez, 18, on Monday, January 19, 2026, according to records released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner.

Medical examiner documents list Daniel’s time of death as 5:52 PM and confirm he died from blunt force injuries sustained in a vehicle accident on Interstate 20 near the Bryant Irvin Road exit in Fort Worth, not far from Benbrook. The manner of death has been ruled an accident.

Preliminary witness information indicates the crash involved multiple vehicles. A black truck traveling westbound on I-20 was reportedly moving at a high rate of speed and swerving through traffic before losing control, entering the median, and going airborne. The vehicle flipped multiple times into the eastbound lanes of I-20 before coming to rest on its side.

At this time, authorities have not confirmed whether Daniel was the driver or a passenger in the truck, or the driver or passenger of another vehicle involved in the accident.

Daniel was nearing graduation and just stepping into adulthood, remembered by family and friends for his ambition, kindness, and clear sense of purpose. His loss leaves a profound void. Services are scheduled for February 1, according to his obituary.

The crash remains under investigation by the Fort Worth Police Department. Authorities say details may change as new information is confirmed. No other fatalities have been reported, and no additional circumstances have been released.

Updates will be shared as verified information becomes available.
