As freezing drizzle coats parts of North Texas, concerns over icy roads and hazardous conditions are mounting—especially for essential services like Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County.
While the nonprofit has yet to finalize its Wednesday operations, it has proactively provided shelf-stable meals to clients in case deliveries are canceled. The decision hinges on road safety, as staff begin work as early as 4 a.m., when conditions could be most treacherous.
Volunteer safety is also a priority, with icy sidewalks and stairs posing risks during meal drop-offs. The organization will continue monitoring conditions over the next 48 hours as the deep freeze grips the region.
