Fort Worth ISD Shuts Down Schools and Offices Due to Winter Weather.

Fort Worth ISD has announced the closure of all schools and district offices on Thursday and Friday. The district cites student and staff safety as the top priority amid forecasts of hazardous winter weather.

The district shared the update at 4:45 PM today on its Facebook page, noting predictions of freezing temperatures and 90% precipitation, creating potentially dangerous road conditions.

Key updates include:

  • Early College & Dual Credit Students: Check with your colleges for updates on online classes.
  • Cancellations: All after-school programs and athletic events for Thursday and Friday are canceled, with varsity games to be rescheduled.

While early release was considered, the district opted against it to prevent traffic and scheduling complications caused by the weather.

Fort Worth ISD is monitoring the situation with national and local agencies. Families and staff are encouraged to visit fwisd.org/weatherupdates to stay informed.

Stay safe and warm, Fort Worth!
