Western Hills Raga Lifter Earns Top Finish at State Meet.

Before most of Benbrook was up Friday morning, a Western Hills athlete was already on the platform, chasing a season’s worth of work.

Josh Raga competed at the state powerlifting meet, stepping in early after weighing in the night before. Opening with a 605-pound squat, a 385 bench, and a 500 deadlift, he quickly showed he belonged among the state’s best.

By the end of the day, Raga had pushed even further. He finished with a 650 squat, a 430 bench press, and a 540 deadlift, earning 7th place out of 22 lifters in the highly competitive 242-pound class.

The numbers tell part of the story, but the bigger picture is the steady grind it took to get there. Hours in the weight room, support from teammates, and a program built on consistency all came together on one stage.

For Western Hills and the Benbrook community, it is another reminder of the level of dedication local student athletes bring to their sport and how far that effort can carry them.
