A new school year also brings a new face to the podium at Western Hills High School.
Ms. Elise Ramirez has been named the new director of the Cougar Choir and is looking forward to meeting students when classes begin on Aug. 12.
A Richardson native, Ramirez is a graduate of Southern Methodist University, where she earned bachelor’s degrees in both Music Education and Vocal Performance.
She enjoys a wide range of artists, including Olivia Rodrigo, SZA, Bad Bunny, Ariana Grande, and Conan Gray, and counts Gabriel Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine among her favorite choral works.
“I’m honored and excited to be your new choir director,” Ramirez shared in her introduction to students. “I can’t wait to meet you and make beautiful music this year.”
Cougar Choir students can expect more updates in the weeks ahead as preparations begin for the 2026-27 school year.
