A little friendly competition among Western Hills High School alumni turned into thousands of dollars in support for their alma mater, with the Class of 1982 claiming the top spot in the Cougar Pride Alliance’s latest Class Challenge.
The Class of 1982 led the fundraising effort with $5,200, followed by the Class of 1986 with $2,550 as members celebrated their 40th reunion. Other participating classes included 1976 ($1,250), 1975 and 2010 ($1,000 each), 1996 and 2000 ($500 each), 1983 ($465), and 1999 ($99).
Together, the nine classes contributed $12,564.
But the generosity didn’t stop with the competition. Cougar Pride Alliance also recognized an anonymous member of the Class of 1983 who committed a $30,000 scholarship to a Western Hills graduate now attending Columbia University. The student, who graduated in May, will receive $7,500 annually over four years.
Organizer Patty Pressley thanked everyone who participated and contributed, celebrating the continued generosity of Western Hills alumni.
As the school’s familiar saying goes, Cougar Pride Never Dies!
