As Mother’s Day weekend continues, forecasters are urging North Texas residents to stay weather aware heading into Sunday afternoon and evening.
According to the National Weather Service Fort Worth office, scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected to develop on Sunday as a cold front moves through the region. The latest update, issued Saturday at 3:55 p.m., shows the potential for severe weather increasing later in the day, especially in the afternoon and evening.
Large hail and damaging winds remain the primary concerns, though heavy rainfall could also become an issue in areas where storms repeatedly move over the same locations. Some communities could see rainfall totals between 2 and 4 inches locally.
For Benbrook residents with outdoor plans, sporting events, travel, cookouts, or Mother’s Day gatherings scheduled on Sunday, now may be the time to think through backup plans and stay flexible with timing.
The National Weather Service is also encouraging residents to have multiple ways to receive weather warnings and to remain prepared should conditions worsen quickly.
The latest updates, watches, and warnings can be found on the National Weather Service Fort Worth website.
