A little sunshine, a little dirt, and a chance to grow something of your own.
The Benbrook Community Gardens will hold its next Community Garden Meeting and Work Day on Saturday, June 13, beginning at 8 a.m. at Timbercreek Park.
The gathering is open to the public and offers residents an opportunity to learn more about the community garden program while helping care for the shared space.
For those interested in growing their own vegetables, herbs, or flowers, this meeting may be especially worth attending. Organizers say two garden plots are currently available and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. A garden orientation will follow the meeting for new participants.
Community gardens do more than grow fresh produce. They bring neighbors together, create opportunities to learn from one another, and add a little extra green space to the community.
Residents planning to attend are encouraged to bring water and dress for the summer heat. For anyone who has been thinking about trying their hand at gardening, this could be the perfect place to dig in.
