If you’ve driven down US HWY 377 past the YMCA and Dutch Branch Park lately, you’ve likely noticed red ribbons tied around nearly every tree lining the road.
What may seem like a simple gesture carries a heartfelt message and a deep sense of loss shared across the Benbrook community.
The ribbons are a tribute to Lilly Taylor, a vibrant Skyline Ranch and Great Hearts school teen whose life was tragically cut short in a recent biking accident. While riding with friends, Lilly lost control of her bike in the mud and collided with a tree, suffering severe head injuries. Days later, she passed awayโleaving behind a wave of grief and a groundswell of community love.
In response, red bows have become a symbol of remembrance, strung along 377 and beyond, encouraging all of us to โLive Like Lilly Taylorโโfull of joy, energy, and devotion.
Through this simple but powerful show of support, Benbrook has wrapped its arms around the Taylor family and reminded one another that Lillyโs light, though gone far too soon, still shines bright in the hearts of many.
