Just after midnight on Saturday, a fire broke out in the garage of a home in the Whiskey Flats area near Pyramid Acres.
Thanks to a rapid response, firefighters from Cresson arrived on the scene in just over four minutes. They found a large blaze in the attached garage but managed to extinguish it quickly, keeping the damage mainly confined to the garage. The eight-year-old brick home was saved, with only minor damage to a nearby vehicle.
In total, 18 firefighters, accompanied by multiple engines and tankers, fought the fire, bringing over 15,000 gallons of water as needed. Support from nearby Benbrook and Parker County was on standby but ultimately not required.
