Several Benbrook neighborhoods experienced power outages Monday afternoon, sparking concern as wintry weather approaches the area.
Residents in North Benbrook, near Leonard Middle School, Timbercrest, Palomino Estates, and parts of Lakeside reported losing electricity, with some seeing flickering power before full outages.
Early estimates from Oncor indicated that roughly 900 households were affected, with initial restoration times projected for later in the afternoon.
As reports continued to come in, more details emerged. Witnesses near Chapin Road and Waverly Park said a vehicle struck a utility pole, triggering a transformer fire.
Fort Worth firefighters responded to the scene, and some nearby homes had power restored shortly after crews secured the area.
Other residents noted receiving outage alerts from Oncor even before power went out, adding to the uncertainty as conditions changed quickly.
By mid-afternoon, neighbors reported seeing numerous Oncor and lineman trucks staged near the Walmart parking lot, likely preparing for broader response efforts ahead of the expected wintry mix and arctic blast later tonight and tomorrow.
Oncor continues to assess outages and respond as conditions allow. Residents are encouraged to report outages and monitor updates.
As this afternoon showed, power issues can develop fast, even before severe weather fully arrives. Staying prepared and informed remains key as colder conditions move in.
