Residents across parts of Benbrook have spent recent nights wondering what was behind the sudden popping and booming sounds echoing after dark.
After multiple residents raised concerns, neighbors contacted both the Benbrook Police, the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office, and the Fort Worth Police Department to track down the source.
Officials confirmed the noise is coming from air cannons being used at the new Maverick Golf Club and Ranch development. The devices were being used to scare wildlife away from newly planted landscaping.
To rule out other concerns, sheriff’s deputies and Fort Worth city inspectors checked nearby oil and construction sites and confirmed they were not responsible.
Initial reports indicated the air cannons were motion-activated and expected to continue, with residents encouraged to contact the City Council and file noise complaints if the disruption persisted.
However, a follow-up message from the Ventana Development Team added a significant update. Ventana officials shared that a contractor working on the neighboring golf course deployed the air cannons without notice or approval.
Once informed, Ventana notified the contractor to immediately stop and stated the devices should never be used again. The development team also apologized to nearby residents for the disruption and thanked neighbors who helped bring the issue to light.
