Multiple Wrecks Back Up Rush Hour Traffic Through Benbrook.

Benbrook residents found themselves stuck in gridlock Thursday evening after a series of crashes brought Highway 377 and the RM 2871 intersection to a standstill during rush hour.

What started as a normal evening commute quickly turned chaotic as reports came in of multiple wrecks on both ends of 377, including one near the new Shell station and Starbucks and another at the 2871 intersection. Several drivers described being at a complete stop for nearly an hour, with traffic spilling into nearby neighborhoods like Westpark and Overcrest.

Some residents said they heard the crashes from their homes near Benbrook Middle-High School, while others shared concerns about drivers trying to bypass the congestion, making an already tense situation worse.

Early accounts suggest one of the incidents may have involved a truck carrying vehicles that lost its load, though officials have not yet confirmed the cause.

As of late Thursday, traffic had finally cleared, but the backup left many frustratedโ€”and some calling for better light synchronization and traffic management during emergencies.

Thankfully, no major injuries were reported, but the wrecks served as another reminder to slow down and stay alert on one of Benbrookโ€™s busiest corridors.
