Monarchs Are Moving Through Texas.

If you spot a few more orange-and-black wings around Benbrook in the coming weeks, they may be part of one of nature’s longest seasonal road trips.

Monarch butterflies are beginning their fall migration south, traveling hundreds and, for some, thousands of miles across North America toward their wintering grounds in Mexico and California.

Texas sits along a major portion of that journey, putting North Texas residents in a good spot to catch a glimpse of monarchs passing through on their way south.

So while you’re outside around Benbrook this fall, keep an eye on the flowers, gardens, and open spaces around you. Some of those monarchs stopping for a quick meal may still have a very long way to go.
