A night of pizza, friends, and fun at the Benbrook Community Center YMCA came with something more important: a chance for local students to connect with people invested in them.
The YMCA’s latest Middle School Madness brought middle schoolers together with high school volunteers and positive adult mentors for an evening centered on building friendships and community.
The group also welcomed Kenneth Houston from Texas A&M University, who spent time with students and shared information about the Texas Opioid Prevention for Students, or TOPS, Project.
Pinnacle Bank helped feed the crowd by sponsoring pizza for the evening.
For the YMCA, Middle School Madness is about more than giving kids something to do. It gives students a place to have fun, build relationships, and know they have a community supporting them.
The next Middle School Madness is scheduled for Sept. 11. Parents can register their middle schooler here.
