Thursday may have been a teacher workday, but there was plenty of action inside the Benbrook Middle-High School gymnasium as the Lady Bobcats returned to district play against Carter Riverside, looking to repeat their earlier sweep of the Lady Eagles.
Benbrook wasted little time, jumping out to a 7-0 lead before Carter Riverside answered with seven straight points to tie the opening set. Lexi Lott helped the Lady Bobcats regain control, and Benbrook pulled away for a 25-15 win.

The second set followed a similar pattern. After an early 4-4 tie, Benbrook built a commanding 20-6 lead, but Carter Riverside wasnโt finished. The Lady Eagles rallied to cut the deficit to four before the Lady Bobcats regrouped and held on for a 25-19 victory.
Carter Riverside made things interesting in the third set, turning an 8-8 tie into a 16-12 advantage and forcing Benbrook head coach Francis Davies to call a timeout.

The Lady Bobcats responded with five straight points to reclaim the lead, then fought off another challenge to close out the set 25-19 and complete the three-set sweep.
The win improves the Lady Bobcats to 22-14 overall and 8-2 in district play, keeping the Lady Bobcats in second place in the district standings.
Next up is a familiar crosstown rivalry as Lady Bobcats hosts the Western Hills Lady Cougars on Tuesday, October 13, at 7 p.m.
