There are nights when you can feel momentum building from the opening whistle. Friday was one of those nights at Benbrook Middle-High School.
The Lady Bobcats stepped onto their home field determined to protect their undefeated district record against Carter-Riverside. Entering the match 10-3-1 overall and 5-0 in district play, they looked every bit like a team focused on a bigger goal.
It did not take long for that focus to show. Benbrook controlled the pace early and never let up, rolling to a commanding 9-0 shutout.
Sydney and Lily Chavez led the charge with two goals each. Ava Rios, Grace Klaerner, Lexi Garcia, and Leah Jimenez each added a goal of their own. Sydney Chavez also recorded two assists, while Lily Chavez, Fiona Chan, and Randee Slater each contributed an assist to round out a balanced and unselfish attack.
With the win, the Lady Bobcats improve to 11-3-1 on the season and 6-0 in district play, holding firm in first place as they pass the halfway point of district competition.
They will travel Tuesday to face Dunbar. For game details and updates, visit https://x.com/BenbrookSoccer or https://www.instagram.com/benbrooksoccer. If this teamโs current form is any indication, there is plenty more to cheer about in the weeks ahead.
