FWISD Eyes 18 Campus Closures in Bold New Facilities Plan.

Benbrook and Fort Worth families, heads up. Fort Worth ISD has unveiled a sweeping five-year facilities plan that could lead to the closure or consolidation of 18 campuses across the district.

With a projected $17.7 million budget deficit for the 2024-2025 school year, the district is aiming to “right-size” operations, streamline resources, and upgrade learning environments across remaining schools. The proposal is backed by both data analysis and community feedback.

Three campuses—S.S. Dillow Elementary, Eastern Hills Elementary, and McLean 6th Grade Center—have already been approved for closure. Fifteen more schools, including Kirkpatrick Middle, Charles E. Nash, and Morningside Middle, are now recommended for phased shutdowns or mergers.

The full plan will be presented to the FWISD Board of Trustees Tuesday, with a final vote expected on May 20.
