It did not take long for Fort Worth residents to clear out the city’s supply of free sandbags Wednesday morning.
The City of Fort Worth began distributing sandbags at 8 a.m. Sept. 30, as residents prepared for the potential of heavy rain and flooding across North Texas. By 9:30 a.m., residents had picked up all available sandbags, ending distribution at both locations.
The city had planned to distribute bags until 5 p.m. at 4100 Columbus Trail in Fort Worth and 309 Hillshire Drive in Haslet, while supplies lasted.
For Benbrook-area residents who were planning to make the trip, sandbags are no longer available at either location.
The quick turnout comes as residents across the area prepare for several rounds of rain expected through the end of the week.
