Former Longhorn Colt McCoy Appointed to State Higher Education Board.

A familiar name in Texas sports is stepping into a new role that reaches well beyond the football field.

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed former Texas Longhorns quarterback Colt McCoy to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, a group that helps guide policy and planning for colleges and universities across the state.

In his new role, McCoy will work alongside lawmakers, business leaders, and education stakeholders to help align Texas’s higher education system with the state’s workforce and economic needs. His appointment runs through Aug. 31, 2031.
