While many in Benbrook were settling into a normal weekend, 122 dancers from Foot Works Performing Arts Center were taking the stage in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and making it count.
The local studio traveled with 11 teams to compete at Starpower Talent, and by the time the final awards were handed out, the results spoke for themselves.
Across three days, Foot Works dancers earned a Judge’s Award, multiple PowerPak invitations and scholarships, a Wild Dance Intensive scholarship, Dancerpalooza scholarships, a World Dance Pageant invitation, and a Cruise invitation.
They collected dozens of 5 Star Premieres and more than 5 Star Elite scores, which reflect near-perfect performances.
Overall placements stacked up quickly. The studio brought home a long list of top-10 finishes, including numerous first-, second-, and third-place overall awards across age divisions and categories.
Several routines stood out with special honors. Choreography awards went to How Love Works and A Musical. Highest scoring titles were awarded in tap, hip hop, and ballet across multiple age groups. The studio also claimed SDA Champion titles in the 8-and-under, 9-to-11, 12-to-14, and 15-to-19 divisions, along with an SDA Grand Line Champion honor.
One highlight came from the youngest dancers. The Bitties earned the SDA Champion title for the highest score in the 8-and-under division, a moment that had families celebrating from the ballroom floor to back home in Benbrook.
By weekend’s end, it was clear this was more than a medal count. It was a milestone, marking many dancers’ first full competition of the season and the rewarding reminder of the hours spent in rehearsals, carpools, and costume fittings.
Congrats to Foot Works and to every one of those 122 dancers, parents, and instructors who carried that community spirit onto a bigger stage and returned with hardware to match the effort.
