Drivers moving through Benbrook this afternoon encountered heavy delays after a traffic accident just before 3 pm on I-20 between Winscott Road and Bryant Irvin Road.
Westbound and eastbound lanes on I-20 were both affected, with traffic also backing up along Bryant Irvin as vehicles slowed to a crawl.
Emergency crews responded quickly and remained on scene, managing traffic and clearing the roadway. At this time, no injuries or fatalities have been reported, which came as welcome news for commuters stuck in the slowdown.
Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes if possible and allow extra time if traveling through the area. Updates will be shared as more information becomes available and conditions change.
