Cougar Varsity Tennis Makes Strong Statement at Arlington Heights.

The Western Hills High School varsity tennis team opened the spring season with confidence at the Arlington Heights Spring Open, turning a day of firsts into a day of results.

For many Cougars, the tournament marked their first appearance at the varsity level. Despite that, the team competed with poise and energy, pushing deep into brackets against experienced opponents.

Two doubles teams delivered standout performances. Daviahn Ervin and Diego Hernandez advanced all the way to the championship match in boys doubles, finishing second after a strong run.

On the girls’ side, Vianet Garcia and Jessica Hernandez faced the eventual tournament champions in the opening round, then responded by storming through the consolation bracket to claim the consolation title.

With a week off ahead, the Cougars will regroup before heading to Burleson to continue the season. Early results point to a team gaining confidence and momentum, and the future of Cougar tennis is already taking shape.
