As winter and spring sports pick up across Benbrook, Benbrook Middle High School leaders are asking fans to do their part to keep games competitive, welcoming, and respectful for everyone involved.
Athletic Coordinators Cody Slater and Esoleta Lofton recently shared a reminder with families and spectators outlining clear expectations for behavior at all BMHS athletic events.
Spectators are encouraged to support student athletes without tearing down officials, opposing teams, or coaches. Officials are tasked with enforcing the rules, and their decisions are to be respected, even when emotions run high. Fans are also reminded that their conduct sets the tone, especially for students watching from the stands.
The reminder also highlights FWISD’s zero-tolerance policy for verbal or physical altercations. Under Texas law and Senate Bill 2929, officials now have the authority to remove spectators immediately for disruptive behavior without prior warning. Anyone removed from an event may also lose the privilege of attending future contests.
School administrators retain discretion to remove spectators who fail to follow these expectations, reinforcing the goal of keeping athletic events safe and positive for all.
Families looking for more detail can review the UIL Sportsmanship Manual or contact a coach or campus administrator directly. Additional campus information is available at https://www.fwisd.org/Benbrook.
BMHS leaders say the goal is not restriction, but protection. Protecting student athletes, officials, and the community experience that makes Bobcat athletics something Benbrook can be proud of.
