For more than a decade, Karen Henderson helped people stay active through group fitness classes at TCU’s Recreation Center. Today, from 9 am – 4 pm, she’s back on campus in a different role.
The owner of Benbrook Tea & Wellness is presenting “Steeped in Wellness” at the 2026 CUPA-HR Lone Star Chapter Statewide Conference, being held at TCU. The conference brings together higher education human resources professionals from across Texas to discuss workplace challenges, leadership, and employee well-being.
For Henderson, the opportunity marks a full-circle moment. After years spent leading fitness classes on campus, she now returns to share her wellness expertise with professionals from across the state.
Friends, customers, and supporters throughout Benbrook are cheering her on as she represents both her business and the community on a larger stage.
Per Henderson, she’s happy to be back at TCU, even if she won’t be lifting any barbells this time. It’s another reminder that small businesses and people like Karen from Benbrook continue to make an impact well beyond city limits.
