Benbrook’s B/156 BEB Soldiers Work and Play Hard!

Benbrook’s B/156 BEB had a thrilling and educational weekend of training from February 21-23, alongside their sister company, A “Chaos” Company.

The soldiers engaged in rigorous drills focused on Hand Grenade Qualification and Assaulting/Defending an Objective, refining their basic Army Warrior Tasks (AWT).

During the training, soldiers practiced using simulation grenades and chalk rounds—similar to paintball but with added intensity. The chalk rounds disintegrate upon impact, requiring soldiers to wear full uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE) for safety.

Though the training was intense, minor injuries are part of the process. SPC Flores from 1st Platoon sustained a minor injury from a chalk round when pulling her mask down during engagement, while PFC Garcia from A Company also sustained a minor injury. Both soldiers were treated immediately and returned to their training exercises.

These injuries, though small, serve as crucial lessons for the soldiers, helping them refine their skills for future combat situations and ensuring they are better prepared for real-life challenges on the battlefield.

In a nice touch of local support, Black Rifle Coffee Company of Benbrook showed appreciation for the troops by providing free coffee bags during their annual “Battle of the Branches” coffee drive. Caffeine is a constant companion for soldiers, especially during field exercises, so the gesture was greatly appreciated.

As the soldiers continue to train, they keep their motto in mind: “Leave nothing behind,” always striving for excellence while serving and protecting our nation.
