For Edwardo Meza, soccer has been part of life for more than three decades. This season, he’s bringing that experience to young players at the Benbrook Community Center YMCA.
A Fort Worth native, husband, father of three, and practicing attorney, Meza played collegiate soccer at UT Arlington before moving into coaching.
His experience includes five years coaching men’s soccer, a Fort Worth Adult Soccer Association First Division championship, a State Cup qualification and two years coaching his son.
But his approach to youth soccer goes beyond the scoreboard. Meza wants players to learn the fundamentals, develop their skills and, just as importantly, have fun playing the game.
His arrival also comes as the YMCA looks for more volunteer coaches willing to invest in local young athletes. No matter the sport, coaches can teach skills while becoming another positive adult in a child’s life.
