Benbrook Residents Weigh In on FWISD’s School Closure Plans.

Benbrook families packed the auditorium at Benbrook Middle-High School on Feb. 27 for the Fort Worth ISD’s latest community meeting, where concerns over potential elementary school closures ran high.

District officials outlined a long-term facilities plan aimed at addressing declining enrollment—down nearly 13,000 students in five years—and underused classrooms.

Interim Superintendent Karen Molinar assured residents that no final decisions had been made and confirmed that Western Hills High School was off the closure list. She also stated that district buildings wouldn’t be sold to charter schools, drawing applause from the crowd.

Community members voiced concerns over increasing class sizes and lack of representation in the decision-making process.

The district is continuing to gather feedback through a survey and will host a virtual meeting on March 3 at 6 p.m. for further discussion.
