Residents attending Benbrook’s Memorial Day tribute on Monday morning may notice several city leaders and board members in attendance.
According to a public notice posted by the City of Benbrook, there is a possibility that a quorum of City Council members, Parks and Recreation Board members, Economic Development Board members, Planning and Zoning Commission members, and Zoning Board of Adjustments and Appeals members could attend the Memorial Service event scheduled for 8 a.m. on May 25 at Benbrook Cemetery and the Benbrook Municipal Complex.
The notice clarifies that the gathering is not an official meeting and that no city action or public business decisions will be taken.
These notices are commonly posted by cities across Texas to remain compliant with open meetings laws anytime enough elected officials or board members could be present at the same public event.
The Memorial Day ceremony itself remains open to the community as residents gather to honor and remember those who gave their lives in military service.
