The Benbrook City Council met on October 2, 2025, for a brief but productive session led by Mayor Jason Ward. All council members were present, including Renee Franklin, Larry Marshall, Dustin Phillips, Gary Addison, Laura Mackey, and Keith Tiner.
After opening with an invocation from Pastor Lynn Bullock of The Church at Benbrook, the council quickly moved through its agenda. No citizens spoke during the public comment period, and minutes from the previous September 18 meeting were approved unanimously.
A key item of business focused on the purchase of four new 2026 Ford Police Interceptor Utility vehicles for the Benbrook Police Department.
The city received bids from several cooperative purchasing programs, ultimately selecting the Texas Buy Board, which offered the lowest cost per vehicle at $53,960. Outfitting costs were estimated at $20,510 per vehicle, bringing the total to $297,880.
Funding will come from the Cityโs Capital Asset Replacement Fund, which covers both vehicle and equipment expenses. The motion passed unanimously.
During closing remarks, Councilmember Keith Tiner expressed appreciation to city staff and the community for their role in making this yearโs Heritage Fest a success. Councilmember Renee Franklin recognized the Benbrook Par 3 Golf Course for helping achieve a Guinness World Record for the largest golf ball pyramid during the festival.
The meeting adjourned at 7:10 p.m., wrapping up another evening of city business and community recognition.
