BENBROOK, TX — The family of Kenneth Woods, who was fatally shot by Benbrook police outside his apartment on September 23, 2024, is demanding the release of body camera footage from the incident. Woods’ fiancée, Keiyana Hamilton, and their family attorneys argue the footage will clarify the circumstances of his death, as they believe he was experiencing mental health issues that morning and sought help.
Hamilton, alongside her mother-in-law, Bernadette Williams, and attorney Larry Taylor, expressed frustration over repeated denials to view the footage. “We want to be able to see or hear what happened—his last moments,” Hamilton said.
The Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting, but Benbrook Police Chief David Babcock stated that any release of video or 911 audio would be determined by the Rangers.
