Beloved Robot Slide Inspires New Benbrook Artwork.

Long after the slide disappeared, the memories remain.

A local artist is bringing one of Benbrook’s most recognizable playground landmarks back to life, this time on canvas. Vivian Graham of Strive to B. Rich recently shared the early stages of a painting inspired by the beloved Robot Slide, a fixture that holds a special place in the memories of generations of Benbrook residents.

The 24-by-36-inch acrylic painting is still taking shape, with Graham currently sketching and planning the composition before adding color and detail. She described the piece as a tribute to something that has been important to the people of Benbrook.

Interest from the community was immediate. Residents expressed excitement about the project, with several already asking about purchasing the finished work or future prints.

Graham said the original painting will be offered for sale once completed and noted that she typically considers offers from interested buyers.

For many longtime residents, the Robot Slide is more than playground equipment. It’s a shared piece of Benbrook history. Through one artist’s brushstrokes, a familiar childhood landmark is getting another chance to spark memories and conversations for years to come.
