Benbrook residents, here’s something everyone should know: a simple hand gesture could be the lifeline someone needs.
It’s called the Signal for Help. It’s one-handed, subtle, and could be the only way someone in danger, like in a domestic violence situation or kidnapping, can reach out without speaking a word.
The gesture is easy to teach and just as easy to miss if you’re not aware of it: hand up, palm out, thumb tucked in, then fingers folded down to trap the thumb. That’s it.
Talk about it with your family. Teach your kids. Share it with your neighbors, coworkers, and everyone you regularly interact with. Knowing it could mean being in the right place at the right time to help someone silently calling for it.
