Fall may not feel quite like fall yet in North Texas, but September is a good time to knock out a few things around the house before cooler weather eventually arrives.
A little cleaning and preparation now can make the seasonal change easier later.
Start inside by clearing out closets, donating things you no longer use, and swapping some summer clothes for cooler-weather layers. It is also a good time to check the heating system, replace air filters, and look for drafts around doors and windows.
Outside, gutters may need cleaning as leaves begin to fall. Outdoor faucets and other exposed plumbing should also make the list before the first cold snap catches anyone by surprise.
Fall preparation does not have to be all chores, either. Stocking the pantry for cooler evenings, planning a few favorite meals, and simply making room for a slower night at home can be part of the seasonal reset.
And perhaps the easiest item on the checklist is one that often gets overlooked: leave a little room for yourself.
Texas weather may take its time getting the message, but fall is coming. A few small jobs now can mean fewer things to worry about when it finally gets here.
