It was a proud moment for Benbrook Middle-High School and senior Kourtney Brown.
Brown made school history by placing fourth in editorial writing at the state academic meet held at The University of Texas at Austin. She’s the first student from the school to ever earn a medal at the state level.
Joining her at the competition, senior DJ Taiwo finished ninth in spelling, adding to the school’s strong showing. Fellow seniors Piper Archer and Robert Heick made the trip as well, supporting their classmates in a weekend filled with academic pride.
Behind every win were the guiding hands of coaches Jared Spoon and Ryan Peterson, along with a strong community of staff, parents, and friends cheering them on.
From preparation to performance, this season showed just how far dedication and teamwork can take Benbrook’s best.
