Homecoming mums are a Texas tradition, but the time and cost of making them can add up quickly. At Western Hills High School, one dedicated mom helped students create their own without spending a dime!
Priscilla Builtron, a Western Hills parent and Cougar Corner volunteer, spent two hours every Wednesday after school teaching students how to make their own homecoming mums.
With leftover ribbons and decorations donated by the Cougar Pride Alliance and additional supplies purchased by LVT Rise, students were able to design and create their mums for free.
According to Patty Pressley of the Cougar Pride Alliance, Builtron also made garters for senior football players and other team members.
Thanks to Builtron and community support, students got to enjoy a handmade homecoming tradition at no cost.
