A piece of Benbrook history may soon be served with frosting.
Local baker Sharon Quiñones is asking residents to dig through old photo albums for images of Benbrook businesses, landmarks, signs, buildings, and other familiar places that have disappeared or changed over the years.
Quiñones previously turned vintage Benbrook photos from her own collection into cookies for Benbrook Chamber of Commerce events. After those proved popular, she invited the community to submit photos for the next batch.
Residents whose photos could be reproduced on a cookie can share vintage Benbrook photos on Quiñones’ original Facebook post. She asks that photos be submitted there, not elsewhere, so the collection stays together.
The selected images will be used for giveaways at upcoming Chamber events.
So, Benbrook, it may be time to open those old albums and boxes. That forgotten storefront, neighborhood landmark, or long-gone sign could be the next local memory sweet enough to eat.
