Friendship, games, meals, and a few road trips are all on the calendar this month at the Benbrook Senior Center.
The center’s June schedule offers a mix of regular activities and special events designed to keep Benbrook seniors connected and engaged throughout the summer.
Weekly favorites include Bridge, Canasta, MahJongg, Mexican Train Dominoes, Hand and Foot, Pegs and Jokers, and several dominoes groups that meet throughout the week.
June’s special events begin with Birthday Bingo on June 3, followed by Friday Night Bingo and dinner on June 5. Later in the month, seniors can enjoy a breakfast outing at Cracker Barrel on June 17, a Fourth of July-themed rock-painting activity that same day, and a field trip to Camp Bowie Mexican Inn and Rock Distribution on June 24. Advance registration is required for several of the special events.
The Benbrook Senior Center serves as more than a gathering place. For many local residents, it’s where friendships are formed, stories are shared, and community continues long after retirement.
The center is open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Whether you’re a longtime participant or considering your first visit, June offers plenty of opportunities to pull up a chair, join a game, and spend time with neighbors.
