Drivers across Benbrook and west Fort Worth were caught off guard Tuesday, a little after 2 pm, after a heavy police presence raced along I-20 and nearby roadways.
Witnesses reported more than a dozen squad cars moving east and west as officers pursued a small silver vehicle that originated in Johnson County. The chase traveled through multiple areas, with residents spotting units along Highway 80, Altamesa, and Camp Bowie West.
The pursuit ended near the Benbrook and Camp Bowie traffic circle, where officers blocked off part of Camp Bowie West, a few blocks down from Murphy USA. With assistance from the Fort Worth Police Department, the suspect was taken into custody following a brief physical struggle.
At this time, authorities have not released details on what led to the initial pursuit, other than the driver refusing to stop. No injuries have been reported, and traffic in the area gradually returned to normal.
Officials are expected to share more information as it becomes publicly available. Residents are encouraged to stay alert during significant police responses of this nature and to avoid active scenes when possible.
