A fast-moving storm rolled through southwestern Tarrant County early Thursday, and one lightning strike proved decisive enough to set a home under construction ablaze in the Bella Flora subdivision around 1:20 a.m.
Benbrook firefighters were first on scene, navigating pounding rain as they checked the address initially dispatched. At the same time, Cresson crews arrived and searched nearby construction sites. They quickly found a second home under construction with an active fire.
Thanks to quick coordination, the blaze in the large structure was brought under control within half an hour. With no fire hydrants in the area, Cresson arrived prepared with 11,000 gallons of water ready to deploy if needed. Even while assisting at Bella Flora, other Cresson units were handling a separate emergency in Parker County.

The overnight response highlighted the teamwork between local departments and the challenges of fighting fires in rural pockets of Tarrant County, where water access is limited.
