75th Annual Tarrant County Livestock Show Kicks Off.

The Tarrant County Jr. Livestock Association is celebrating its 75th annual show this week at the Will Rogers Memorial Center, drawing about 900 local youth participants.

This show, a staple in the community since its early days at the Jacksboro Highway Bridge, provides a platform for youth to showcase their agricultural and creative talents. In addition to the competitive elements, the show also includes a Helping Hands competition for special education students. It also features over 2,000 entries across various categories, including horses, cattle, swine, poultry, and agricultural mechanics.

Starting today, young exhibitors from Tarrant County’s FFA and 4-H programs will showcase their hard work. The six-day event culminates in Saturday’s Sale of Champions auction, where approximately 240 animals are sold, raising an estimated $500,000 for the exhibitors.

The auction is a premium sale, allowing exhibitors to retain their animals while advancing to other major contests, such as the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Proceeds from the event benefit the exhibitors, ensuring the continued success of this beloved local tradition.
