Young Cougar Band Hits the Right Note at UIL Contest.

For a band made up largely of freshmen, Tuesday night was a moment that showed just how far they have come.

The Western Hills High School Cougar Band traveled to Eagle Mountain–Saginaw High School to compete in the UIL Region 30 Concert and Sightreading Contest, earning strong ratings across the board. Performing for six judges, the group delivered steady, confident performances that reflected months of preparation.

What stands out even more is who filled those seats. Nearly 70 percent of the band is made up of freshmen, making the results less about a single night and more about a program building momentum.
