There was plenty of chopping, mixing, measuring, and taste-testing this week as students at Happy Heart Academy kicked off their first cooking class of the summer.
Led by Mrs. Monique, the hands-on class gave young chefs the chance to learn kitchen skills while creating colorful, healthy treats.
Students prepared rainbow garden pinwheels using bell peppers, cucumbers, carrots, cream cheese, and mozzarella, practicing everything from cutting and spreading to rolling their finished creations.
For dessert, they made pumpkin energy balls with pumpkin puree, chia seeds, oats, maple syrup, and chocolate chips.
The cooking class is one of several activities planned as part of the academy’s summer programming and will return every other week throughout the season.
Happy Heart Academy thanked Mrs. Monique for sharing her time and expertise, helping create a morning filled with learning, laughter, and a little culinary creativity.
