YMCA Shares Simple Pool Safety Reminder Ahead of Summer.

As temperatures rise and more families head for the water, the Benbrook Community Center YMCA is reminding residents that pool safety starts long before anyone jumps in.

During Water Safety Week, the YMCA is encouraging parents and caregivers to think about safety as a layered approach. That includes active supervision, locked gates, pool fences, alarms, swim lessons, and teaching children to always ask permission before entering the water.

The message is simple: one safety measure alone is not enough.

The YMCA is also reminding families to designate a “water watcher,” keep a phone nearby in case of emergency, and learn CPR. Another important reminder shared this week is to never swim alone and to always have at least two people present around the water.

With backyard pools, neighborhood swim parties, and summer vacations quickly approaching, local staff hope these conversations help prevent accidents before they happen.

Residents looking for additional summer water safety tips can stop by the water safety table at the Benbrook Community Center YMCA for more information.
