If you’ve noticed more planes buzzing overhead in the mornings, you’re not imagining things.
Benbrook skies have gotten busier, and there’s a good reason why. It’s mostly military training and test flights, with jets from nearby bases keeping sharp and ready.
Some of these flights feature French Mirage F1s flying alongside Lockheed F-35s, utilizing less expensive jets for training exercises. This isn’t new for Benbrook.
Locals remember the nonstop roar of B52s and tankers during the Cold War from Carswell Air Force Base, the old name many still use.
Today, the 301st Fighter Wing at the Joint Reserve Base is busy training with their own F-35s.
While the sound might wake you up, it’s a reminder that our skies are still active with pilots honing skills to keep the country safe. For many here, the noise is the soundtrack of freedom—and it’s something to appreciate, not complain about.
