As the final football game of the 2025 season wrapped under the Friday night lights, Western Hills High School turned the spotlight toward a different group of champions.
Instead of players, it was the campus support staff who were celebrated as Faculty Members of the Week, a well-earned nod to the people who quietly keep the school running every day.
This year’s honorees reflect the wide range of roles that shape the student experience. The recognition list included Librarian Ms. Hester, Counselors Ms. Adkins and Ms. Smith, and Girls Athletic Coordinator Coach Suzette Pritchett.
The school also applauded Cafeteria Manager Ms. Ambriz, Deaf Education Interpreters Ms. Adams, Ms. Lauritzen, Mr. LaPenna, and Mr. Moser, as well as Assistant Principals Ms. Bowers, Ms. Martin, and Mr. Anderson. Head Custodian Mr. May rounded out the group.
From guidance offices to lunch lines to late-night custodial work, these staff members support students in ways that rarely make headlines but always matter. Their work influences safety, learning, connection, and campus culture, often without applause.
Recognizing them at the season finale offered a fitting close to the school’s fall sports calendar and a warm reminder that success at Western Hills comes from far more than what happens on the field.
