Tarrant County just reported its first human case of West Nile Virus this year earlier this month.
Mosquitoes carrying the virus have been found in several areas around the region, so health officials are reminding everyone to take simple precautions, such as using bug spray, wearing long sleeves, and eliminating standing water around their homes.
Most people who contract West Nile don’t get sick, and serious cases are rare; however, it’s still advisable to take precautions.
With mosquito season running through November, it’s a good idea to stay on top of this so you and your family stay safe.
