Some educators teach lessons. Others become part of a school’s heart.
That was the feeling shared across the Waverly Park Elementary School community as staff and families honored a group of longtime educators whose impact stretched far beyond the classroom.
Mrs. Dorsett, Mrs. Arseneau-Hughes, Dr. Kempf, Ms. Covin, and Mrs. Jennings were recognized for years of service, compassion, and dedication to students and families at Waverly Park.
School supporters described the group as more than teachers and staff members. Over the years, they became encouragers, trusted listeners, counselors, role models, and safe places for generations of students growing up on campus.
Parents and staff reflected on the countless moments these educators celebrated with students, from academic victories to difficult days when children simply needed kindness and support.
While many said it is difficult to imagine Waverly Park without them, the school community also shared excitement for the next chapter awaiting each of the women being honored.
Their classrooms may soon be quieter, but the impact they leave behind will continue to be felt throughout the halls of Waverly Park for years to come.
