This Friday, November 7, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will host a candlelight ceremony at the Texas State Capitol in Austin to honor more than 91,000 lives lost on Texas roads since 2000. The event begins at 6 p.m. on the south steps of the Capitol.
The solemn gathering, joined by the Texas Department of Public Safety and families of crash victims, marks the 25th anniversary of the last day without a traffic fatality in Texas. Officials will share stories, reflect on the lives lost, and urge Texans to help break the ongoing streak of daily roadway deaths.
