Taste of the Wild: Edible Plants Talk Coming to Weatherford.

North Texans curious about what’s growing underfoot will get a chance to learn straight from one of the region’s most seasoned plant experts.

On Tuesday, June 24, from 6 to 8 p.m., the Cross Timbers Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas is hosting a free, in-person session with longtime biologist and author Ricky Linex.

Held at 213 Raymond George Way in Weatherford, this event will walk guests through 42 common edible plants found in pastures, rangelands, and even their own backyards. From native wildflowers to woody shrubs, Linex will cover what to eat, when to pick, and how to recognize these local treasures.

With nearly four decades of field experience, Linex brings both storytelling and science to the subject. Whether you’re a gardener, forager, or just someone who enjoys learning about the natural world, this presentation promises to be a fun, down-to-earth way to reconnect with what’s growing all around us.
